Grant Cycle One of Sustainable Tibetan Communities Project
Participatory Land Use Planning for Ecotourism
 No. STC-RFA-001
Community-based ecotourism has great potential to support and enhance livelihoods while encouraging environmental conservation in the project area. The PRA revealed a strong interest by the communities in Tagong in ecotourism. Currently there are a small number of domestic tourists that visit the area. However, the communities do not have the capacity and experience to improve and expand the services that would support the much needed and desired expansion of cultural and ecotourists. Among the major constraints is the lack of cross community ecotourism planning – especially for horseback trails that transverse the communities, hiking, guides, homestay /lodging, and activities of interest to a tourist.
