Grants Manager
This role is to coordinate the China-based grants component of the project, distributing grants to local non-governmental organizations working on the three project components. This position is for a Chinese citizen, effective ASAP, based in Chengdu with regular travel to Ganzi.
Responsibilities:
  • Research the capacity of potential NGO¡¯s and the grant award environment including relevant government policy and potential linkages and networks.
  • Help refine grant criteria, publicize grant competition and coordinate with grant selection committee and program staff.
  • Organize and lead Grant workshop and post award training.
  • Manage the contractual aspects of the grant process. Manage the financial reporting on the grants in accordance with regulations.
  • Maintain records showing grantee reporting status and draft correspondence. Provide advice and training on grant writing, reporting and financial management to grantees.
  • Work with other project staff to design a monitoring and evaluation mechanism to capture results of grantees¡¯ activities.
  • Draft quarterly reports, and monitor and evaluate the performance of the grant program and grantees¡¯ activities.
  • Travel in Ganzi and the surrounding region as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor¡¯s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years in a financial or training position.
  • General understanding of contractual aspects of management.
  • Earlier experience in grant management desirable.
  • Past experience with an NGO highly desirable.
  • Strong computer skills - MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet required.
  • Chinese and English language skills necessary, Tibetan desirable.
  • Accuracy, flexibility and willingness to learn and work in a team.
  • High level of integrity and interest in working in poverty alleviation.
